URBAN PROJECT - FRANCE
Paris - Île de France
Based on former Terrains d’Avenir program supported by ORF and French Ministry of Sports, THF program in Paris and Paris region (Île-de-France) is catered to host displaced young boys and girls hosted in reception centers (CADAs). THF offers them the opportunity to be introduced to the combat-sport through partnerships with Taekwondo clubs.
A pioneer socio-sport model to be replicated
Shelters
P1 – Shelters CADAs are the main form of accommodation provided to asylum seekers. They include both collective and private accommodations that are located either within the same building or in scattered apartments.
Promoting Taekwondo as an inclusion tool
Program
The program run by the THF and the Taekwondo Ligue Ile-de-France is addressing weekly 40 young participants, divided into 3 sessions (2 within a Taekwondo club and another using the facilities of a reception center). 2 coaches are in charge of the sessions, lasting 1 to 1.5 hrs. Introduction to Taekwondo with a socio-sport approach addressing small groups (around 10) is beneficial, reducing the level of stress, delivering well-being among the beneficiaries.
